Hello! I’m Heidi, and welcome to Roost & Roam – my UK home and travel blog.
Why Roost & Roam?
After brain-storming with my partner, the name Roost & Roam was born as it perfectly sums up my two great loves: transforming our home and adventuring out in the world. Roost covers all things home, garden, DIY and interiors, while Roam is where you’ll find our UK trips, overseas adventures and travel tips galore.
A bit about me…
I’m Somerset born and bred, but thankfully I dodged the full-blown farmer accent and still need subtitles to understand Gerald from Clarkson’s Farm.
In 2022, we bought our lovely family home in Somerset, and we’ve been slowly turning it from plain new-build to personality-packed ever since. Over in the Roost section of the blog, you’ll find our DIY projects (like building a fake chimney breast from scratch), interior makeovers and garden glow-ups. I love creating cosy, characterful spaces and have lots of fun transforming rooms of our home. We would absolutely love to build our own shepherd’s hut one day, but thats a dream for another day!
And then there’s the roaming…
I’ve always had a serious case of the travel bug. Whether it’s a weekend hike with a jaw-dropping view at the top, a fun cruise with the family or a magical Christmas adventure. Iceland and Finland gave us some of the most surreal scenery, and I’m itching to tick off more bucket-list spots like Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand, the Maldives and Norway (we actually just ticked Norway off the list!) Over in the Roam section, you’ll find travel guides, itineraries, hotel and cruise reviews, plus loads of tips to make your next trip smooth, fun, and full of unforgettable moments.
Life lately…
I’m mum to two football-mad boys who are growing up way too fast, and I recently got engaged to my amazing fiancé James on Diamond Beach in Iceland. Cue the happy tears… and the mild panic, because I have no clue where to start with wedding planning. I’ve got a feeling it wont be overly traditional though!
Supporting Roost & Roam
If you’ve enjoyed reading or found anything helpful, theres now the option to “Buy Me a Coffee” over at buymeacoffee.com/roostandroam. Your support means the absolute world and helps me keep creating, sharing, and maybe even upgrading from instant coffee to the occasional caramel latte in a cosy coffee shop. Cheers!
It blows my mind that theres now over 35,000 people visiting Roost & Roam each month. So thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you’ll come back soon and see what we’re up to next!
