Hello! I’m Heidi, and welcome to Roost & Roam; my UK home and travel blog.
Why Roost & Roam?
The name Roost & Roam was conjured up because I felt it suited the niche of my blog. Therefor, ‘Roost’ for the home topics and ‘Roam’ for UK trips and abroad travel posts.
A bit about me
I’m Somerset born and bread, although I count my lucky stars that I didn’t adopt the broad farmer accent! Even I cant understand Gerald from Clarkson’s Farm.
In 2022 we bought our lovely family home in Somerset, which we’ve slowly been improving and adding much needed character to ever since. Within the ‘Roost’ section of my website, you’ll find posts about home interiors, garden makeovers and our DIY project guides. Like how we built a false chimney breast from scratch, or how we added a stair runner to our new-build house. I really enjoy interior styling and designing a cosy space, so much so, that I’d love to have our own unique Airbnb project one day.
Seeing the world, seeking adventure and exploring new places is my other passion. I’m always up for a long weekend hike, especially if it leads me to a breath-taking view. Iceland & Finland provided plenty of astonishing vistas, and our cruise was a lot of fun. But some other places I’m desperate to explore are Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand, Norway and the Maldives! You’ll find a plethora of UK trips and others from further afield within the ‘Roam’ section of my blog. I hope my articles make planning your trip a piece of cake and inspire you to embark on your own amazing journeys.
I’m also mum to two football-crazy boys, and have just got engaged to my amazing fiancé James on Diamond Beach in Iceland! Which means I need to start planning our wedding, but I actually have no idea where to even begin! If you have any wedding planning advice, please help me out and get in touch – thanks!
