La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Cream SPF 30 is a lightweight facial sunscreen, thats perfectly suited to dry and sensitive skin types.
My skin type falls into the dry category, yet even in my 30’s I still maintain annoyingly acne-prone skin. (Although that did change when I discovered Pore Favor skin supplements) Consequently, I have always stayed clear of applying facial SPF as it generally resulted in my skin reacting badly, breaking out or looking greasy. Which, by no means was the look I was aiming for.
Dewy, yes.
Greasy, not so much!
But learning how much skin damage and premature ageing is caused through harmful UVA & UVB rays. I decided to search for an affordable, non-comedogenic, broad-spectrum SPF that wouldn’t cause my skin any flare-ups, but that would keep it protected from the sun.
That was when I found the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Cream, which quickly became a game changer for me and here’s why.
In this article...
Fragrance & Consistency of La Roche-Posay SPF
With this SPF 30 there is no typical sunscreen scent, so you won’t get flashbacks of summer holidays as you rub this into your skin. Instead, La Roche-Posay have done a great job with this SPF by creating an extremely light and delicate fragrance which makes it suitable for sensitive skin types to use too.
There is no sticky sensation when applying the Anthelios Ultra cream, nor does it leave an unwelcome greasy feeling on your skin. Instead, you’ll all you’ll notice is a really moisturising, ultra-comfortable sweat and water resistant formula which leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.
Another bonus of this SPF is that it doesn’t leave an unwanted white cast on my face. Even though this particular SPF isn’t tinted, it leaves no horrible ashy hue on my skin.
Packaging
I have mixed feelings about the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra SPF packing.
The pump dispenser makes it easy to pump out the right amount and avoid unnecessary wastage. However, the only downside to this particular packaging is that you can’t really stand it up on your dressing table. You can try and balance it upside down on the cap, but I find it constantly falls over. I personally prefer the packaging on the La Roche-Posay invisible fluid, or their Age Correct SPF.
SPF application
SPF should always be the final step of your skincare regime. So after applying my serums and Lumene moisturiser, I complete my skincare routine by applying 1-2 pumps of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra, using my fingers to rub it in.
This sunscreen feels divine and melts into your skin effortlessly. I’ve also noticed that it makes a wonderful primer and produces a beautiful dewy base ready to apply your makeup over the top.
I wear this SPF every day and it hasn’t caused me any irritation or provoked any spots. I will 100% be repurchasing once this tube is empty, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has dry or sensitive skin.
