If you’re after a fun, adventured filled day out in Cornwall, Adrenalin Quarry in Liskeard should be high up on your list of things to do.
We visited when we were staying at the nearby Bodmin Jail hotel, which is only a 30min drive away.

Whats at Adrenalin Quarry?
Whether you want to fly through the air, or keep your feet firmly on solid ground. There are 5 different activities to do at Adrenalin Quarry, providing something to suit all level’s of adrenalin junkies. If you’re not a thrill seeker yourself, you can enjoy watching and laughing at your family or friends from the safety of the viewing platforms.
Go-Kart track
As we’re not much of a fair-weather country, there is a 800m all weather go kart track which looked great fun. Different sized karts are available to suit kids as young as 7, all the way up to fully grown adults. They also have a separate 80m track with ‘bambini’ electric karts for 3-6 year olds, making a fun activity where all the family can get involved.
The giant swing
This one certainly isn’t for the faint hearted. It looked like an actual living nightmare and made my knees go weak just looking at it.
We watched on as people were getting winched up painfully slowly, you could see the fear in their eyes whilst they nervously lingered at the top. Suddenly they dropped and swung 160 foot out over the lake, before hurtling backwards towards the cliff edge. It gets a great big NO from me, but a fab thrill for the serious dare devils out there!
Zip-Wire
THIS is what we came to adventure quarry for. The mighty twin Zipline.
I figured James would really appreciate this surprise. Why wouldn’t he want to zoom along the 490m long, 50m high zip line with top speeds of 40mph?!
You’re given a harness to step into, which is then tightened and secured by one of the trained staff. As you get closer to the front of the line, you have to step onto a scale, taking note of your weight ready to tell the guys who clip you onto the wire. They then jump on their walkie talkies and let the team on the ground know your weight. I guess they have to calculate something with how they stop you at the bottom? Once you’re both clipped on, they give you a quick 3,2,1 count down, then it’s down to you to step/jump off the stand and start racing down the line together.
It’s such a laugh racing along parallel with one another. The line is pretty fast and before you know it you’re back on solid ground in about 30 seconds.
We enjoyed it so much that we walked the 1km path back to the top, joined the queue and paid for round two. Just for a little heads up, you pay half price on your second go (if bought on the same day).
Anyone between 25kg & 115kg can do the zip-line. We watched a few really little kids, probably no more than 3/4 years old go down whilst we were in the queue. Plastic barrels are filled with water, and the kids sit on these to add extra weight to them. I’m trying to convince my boys to give it a go next time we’re in Cornwall as I think they would both love it!
Aqua Park
According to their website, this is the biggest aquapark in the world – which seems pretty mind blowing. I’d have thought it would be in America or somewhere like Dubai, perhaps!
Regardless, It’s a fun inflatable playground, which floats on the water at the quarry. You get to climb, jump, and slide your way around the slippery assault course . This one has slides, swings, and trampolines too!
You might want to swerve doing your hair or makeup before this activity, because you’re going to get absolutely soaked!
My friends recently did this Aquapark and they said it was brilliant fun.
Axe throwing
I’ve never been axe throwing before. But I would like to give it a shot, and hear the twack as the axe smashes into a thick tree stump.
Understandably, this is only available for people over the age of 16.
Don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t trust anyone younger than this with an axe!
Here’s a little video of our time on the zipline.
